(19) Rigid Molded Materials are made from a blend of dry ingredients including thermosetting resins, reinforcing fibers and friction modifiers. The materials are molded under heat and pressure to provide excellent performance in the type applications they are intended for. Generally the Ferotec rigid molded materials have the highest strength, the best high temperature performance and the most durability of the conventional friction material line.
(11) Flexible Molded Materials are made from a blend of ingredients including thermosetting resins, reinforcing fibers, rubber particles and friction modifiers. The mix is prepared in a pasty consistency and then roll formed in Ferotec’s unique process. The materials are then semi -cured so that they can be formed to fit shoes, bands, etc. The products can be finish cured in an oven or they will service cure in their applications. The Ferotec line of flexible molded materials cover most of the light and medium duty dry friction applications.
(9) Woven Materials are made from yarns of organic and inorganic fibers spun with brass or copper wire to give additional strength and improved thermal conductivity. These yarns are woven into a dense tape or cloth and then saturated with heat resistant resins and friction modifiers. After baking and surface grinding these materials can be made into parts or sold as rolls and sheets. Outstanding characteristics include rapid break in, flexibility and the ability to perform in the presence of contaminants such as oil, mud, etc.
Specialty Materials are composites with extreme capabilities. Some have exceptional strength for use as part of a drive system without a supporting core. Others have exceptional heat tolerance for consistent performance in extreme temperature environments. These composite materials are supplied in laminated sheets or molded panels for specific applications.
(18) Brake and clutch linings for the more popular industrial applications,
cranes, drag lines, tractors, etc. are shown in the catalog and stocked
in Ferotec Friction's warehouse. Prints of most lining sets are on file
so applications not shown in the catalog can likely be produced quickly
in our shop. The heavy duty friction material used in each application
meets or exceeds the OEM specifications.
